In the Spring of 2010, the Design Trust for Public Space sent the independent filmmaker Nandan Rao to the streets, sidewalks, parks, plazas and open spaces of New York City to talk to New Yorkers about what public space means to them. Here's what they have to say...

Een sterk intrigerend filmpje!
In bovenstaand filmpje wordt gesproken over de publieke plaatsen in New york, wat de mensen van deze plaatsen vinden en wat dat voor hen betekent. Deze worden gezien als plaatsen waar er aan community building wordt gedaan, als een plaats waar mensen elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, een plaats die het doorgaande leven onderbreekt .

I think it let’s people relax around each other in a city where pople don’t do that very often

It’s a place for sharing the community, it’s a communal space
